Youth Investors Challenge
Introducing our very first:
Welcome to the Youth Investors Challenge, a free, hands-on investment competition designed to foster creativity and investing mindsets among international students. With access to an online stock market simulator, participants can work in groups of up to four or independently build an investment portfolio that answers our case study. You will study strategy development, collaboration, communication, risk, diversification, business and industry analysis, and many other facets of investing together.

July 4th
Competition Commencement
This is when the competition officially begins.
July 12th
Initial Workshop
This workshop will help you understand the format of the competition, as well as introduce basic investing concepts.
July 25th
Midterm Report (Optional)
A 3-page written report. For more details, please refer to the “Midterm Report“ page. (Rolling basis, all submissions up to this day will be considered)
August 17th
Final Report Submission (Mandatory)
A 6-page written report to summarize all work done throughout the competition. For more details, please refer to the “Final Report” page.
August 25th
Presentation Day
A day to showcase all your hard work. We invite all participants to join us on Zoom to celebrate your dedication and to determine the champion.
About the Competition
In this engaging and dynamic competition, teams will dive into a realistic case study featuring a prospective client. Together, your team will collaborate to create and execute a robust investment strategy tailored specifically to meet your client's unique long-term financial goals.
Using Investopedia's virtual trading simulator, you'll have the chance to buy and sell stocks and ETFs, managing a virtual portfolio of $100,000 over a period of 7 weeks. Throughout the challenge, you'll analyze market trends, research promising industries and companies, and strategically craft a portfolio that best aligns with your client's investment objectives.
Unlike other investment competitions, our judges evaluate teams based on the quality, depth, and clarity of your investment strategy—not simply on portfolio returns. Your strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and teamwork are the keys to success!
Participants will submit two deliverables during the competition, culminating in a final investment report. Our esteemed panel of judges will carefully review these submissions and select five finalist teams. These finalists will then have the exciting opportunity to present their strategies live before an expert panel at our virtual finals event.
Following the finals, we will celebrate your achievements and announce the winning teams, awarding them a generous cash prize of $3,500!
